Pine Cone Bird

Get outside and search high and low for some pine cones to use in this fun craft! You can decorate them any way you like and make different sizes and types of birds! Who knew pine cones could be such a HOOT!?

What You’ll Need:

  • Scissors

  • Hot Glue Gun

  • Pine Cones

  • Felt 

  • Googly eyes

  • Pom poms,

  • Pipe cleaner

  • String

  • Anything else you want to decorate your Pine Cone Bird with!

What to Do:

  1. Glue googly eyes onto the pine cone and let them dry.

  2. Turn pipe cleaners into legs and feet and glue them onto the pine cone.

  3. Cut out a triangular beak from orange or yellow foam and glue it on.

  4. Glue the string onto 2 points on your pine cone bird so you can hang it in a window or even wear it as a necklace!

Can you make your bird look like a local bird species?

Blue Jay = Blue

Western Tanager = Yellow, Orange and Black

Red Breasted Nuthatch = Blue, White, Black and Red

Robin= Orange and Brown
