Weeding for Wildlife at Bunchberry Meadows

Bunchberry Meadows is filled with a wide range of habitats, from rolling grasslands to patches of birch, Jack pine, and mixed wood forest. It is a haven for many species of plants and animals. Restoration efforts are underway by the parking lot and main entrance, which includes removing weeds. We will target white cockle on the north side of the driveway to prevent further spread of this invasive plant and give the native species a chance to thrive.

We will meet at Bunchberry Meadows at 9 am, and leave the site by 2 pm. Wear appropriate footwear and long pants, and bring a lunch, water, and a camera or binoculars if you'd like. If you have your own gardening tools and gloves to bring we recommend that you do so, but otherwise tools and gloves will be provided. Additional information will be sent to you several days in advance of the event.

While we resume our volunteer stewardship events, we are committed to implementing actions to comply with public health measures and workplace guidance to reduce risk of COVID-19 among staff, volunteers, and the general public. We will also be implementing updated EALT health and safety policies and procedures to support a safe work and volunteer environment. We thank you for your understanding and support as we roll out these safety measures.

Stewardship events are weather-dependent and subject to cancellation.
