Golden Ranches Nest Box Cleaning

Golden Ranches, as you might expect, was once a ranch filled with grazing cattle. Many years later, it is protected for wildlife, including nesting birds. EALT maintains 50 bird boxes on this land to add valuable habitat for Tree Swallows, Mountain Bluebirds, and House Wrens among its open fields. It is time to clean out old nesting material from the bird boxes to make room for next year’s occupants, and we could use some helping hands!

We will meet at Golden Ranches at 9:30 am sharp, and leave the site by 1:00 pm. It is likely that we will be done by lunchtime, but we have scheduled some extra time in case of delays. Wear appropriate footwear and long pants, and bring a lunch, water, hat, sunscreen/bugspray, and a camera or binoculars if you'd like. If you have your own gloves to bring we recommend that you do so, but otherwise tools and gloves will be provided. Additional information will be sent to you several days in advance of the event.

Please note: Wasps are currently out in large numbers, and there is a chance of getting stung at any outdoor event. Please use caution and let us know if you have severe allergies to wasp stings.

Stewardship events are weather-dependent and subject to cancellation.
