Nest Box Cleaning at Golden Ranches

Golden Ranches, as you might expect, was once a ranch filled with grazing cattle. Many years later, it is protected for wildlife, including nesting birds. EALT maintains 50 bird boxes on this land to add valuable habitat for Tree Swallows, Mountain Bluebirds, and House Wrens among its open fields. It is time to clean out old nesting material from the bird boxes to make room for next year’s occupants, and we could use some helping hands!

We will meet at Golden Ranches at 9 am, and leave the site by 2 pm. Wear appropriate footwear and long pants, and bring a lunch, water, hat, sunscreen/bugspray, and a camera or binoculars if you'd like. If you have your own gardening tools and gloves to bring we recommend that you do so, but otherwise tools and gloves will be provided. Additional information will be sent to you several days in advance of the event.

While we resume our volunteer stewardship events, we are committed to implementing actions to comply with public health measures and workplace guidance to reduce risk of COVID-19 among staff, volunteers, and the general public. We will also be implementing updated EALT health and safety policies and procedures to support a safe work and volunteer environment. Please read our guidelines for volunteering during COVID-19 here. We thank you for your understanding and support as we roll out these safety measures.

Stewardship events are weather-dependent and subject to cancellation.
