Trail Maintenance at Glory Hills

Glory Hills Conservation Lands are full of life - our wildlife cameras capture images of fox, skunks, moose, and fishers there, and visitors hike, ski, and snowshoe all over this 110-acre paradise. This year, heavy rain has encouraged steady growth of vegetation, and many of our trails are in need of maintenance. Staff have weed whacked shrubs growing along the main access trail, and now we need help to clip overhanging branches of larger shrubs that are growing onto the trails from the sides. We expect to walk on some moderately steep slopes and possibly in areas with long grass and saturated ground.

We will meet at Glory Hills at 9 am, and leave the site by 2 pm. Wear appropriate footwear and long pants, and bring a lunch, water, hat, sunscreen/bugspray, and a camera or binoculars if you'd like. If you have your own gardening tools and gloves to bring we recommend that you do so, but otherwise tools and gloves will be provided. Additional information will be sent to you several days in advance of the event.

While we resume our volunteer stewardship events, we are committed to implementing actions to comply with public health measures and workplace guidance to reduce risk of COVID-19 among staff, volunteers, and the general public. We will also be implementing updated EALT health and safety policies and procedures to support a safe work and volunteer environment. Please read our guidelines for volunteering during COVID-19 here. We thank you for your understanding and support as we roll out these safety measures.

Stewardship events are weather-dependent and subject to cancellation.
