Lu Carbyn Nature Sanctuary Sign Installation

Lu Carbyn Nature Sanctuary is a stunning quarter section of largely undisturbed boreal forest, and the perfect haven for birds - as shown by the over 95 species recorded here! We have installed map, boundary, and directional signs throughout the land, and we want to add some final signs before opening the land to the public. As we traverse the land, we may do some trail maintenance as well.

Don’t forget to wear rainboots! Like many of our conservation lands, the Lu Carbyn Nature Sanctuary is very wet this year, and we will have to cross flooded sections of trail to access the areas that we want to install signs. There will also be some heavy lifting (carrying signs and sign posts), but many hands make light work.

We will meet at the Lu Carbyn Nature Sanctuary at 9:30 am, and leave the site by 3:30 pm. Wear appropriate footwear and long pants, and bring a lunch, water, hat, sunscreen/bugspray, and a camera or binoculars if you'd like. If you have your own gardening tools and gloves to bring we recommend that you do so, but otherwise tools and gloves will be provided. Additional information will be sent to you several days in advance of the event.

While we resume our volunteer stewardship events, we are committed to implementing actions to comply with public health measures and workplace guidance to reduce risk of COVID-19 among staff, volunteers, and the general public. We will also be implementing updated EALT health and safety policies and procedures to support a safe work and volunteer environment. Please read our guidelines for volunteering during COVID-19 here. We thank you for your understanding and support as we roll out these safety measures.

Stewardship events are weather-dependent and subject to cancellation.
