Coates Cleanup for Wildlife

IMG-4606.jpg

Coates is a unique EALT land featuring a steep valley with winding creek, frequented by many types of wildlife and currently quite a few beavers! In the past several months volunteers have removed a large amount of scrap metal and other garbage that had been dumped on this land throughout previous decades. We are going to make a final push to clean up the rest of the garbage so that it will no longer pose a threat to wildlife and people exploring this wonderful land.

We will meet at Coates at 10:00 AM, and leave the site by 2:00 PM at the latest. Since we will be handling metal, please wear long sleeves and long pants and appropriate footwear for hiking. Bring a lunch, water, hat, and a camera or binoculars if you'd like. If you have your own gloves to bring we recommend that you do so, but otherwise tools and gloves will be provided. For this event, gloves should be thick and heavy-duty. Additional information will be sent to you several days in advance of the event.

NOTE: In support of public health and the health and safety of EALT staff and volunteers, EALT is requiring proof of vaccination for our stewardship events. Please plan ahead by saving a digital copy of your vaccination record on your phone or printing it out and bringing your record to the event.

If you have not yet completed your second dose, please plan to join a stewardship event once you are fully vaccinated. If you have a medical exemption or have youth under 12 who are not yet eligible for the vaccine, please contact EALT in advance of registration.

For more information on accessing your vaccination records, visit https://www.alberta.ca/covid19-vaccine.aspx. You can download or print your record in the express system at: https://www.albertavaccinerecord.ca/#/

We thank you for supporting public health and the health of EALT staff and volunteers in this challenging time.
