Winter Walk at Lu Carbyn Nature Sanctuary

The Lu Carbyn Nature Sanctuary is the furthest west of EALT’s protected areas, and while we hope to open this stunning Conservation Land to the public soon, until then it is only accessible by guided tour. Join us as Lu Carbyn leads a lovely guided nature walk while we search for signs of wildlife. We will be collecting data on all identified tracks, calls, and other wildlife evidence.

We will meet at 8:30 AM at Westmount Mall and plan to get back into the city around 4-4:30PM. The option to stay out later with Lu may be available. Wear warm winter boots and layers of warm comfortable winter clothes. Make sure to bring a lunch, water, and a camera or binoculars if you'd like. Snowshoes may be needed for this event. If you don't have your own, you can rent snowshoes from several outdoor sport outfitters, such as MEC and Totem Outfitters. Additional information will be sent to you several days in advance of the event.

Note: This event will be of moderate intensity as it may involve walking/ snowshoeing through potentially deep snow.
