In partnership with EALT, Alberta Parks, Strathcona County, Beaver Hills Biosphere, Elk Island National Park, and more!
Learn and lend a hand in invasive plant management alongside partners in the Beaver Hills Biosphere.
Coordinated by conservation partners in the Beaver Hills Biosphere that all play a role in managing invasive species present on the landscape, this event provides an opportunity for the public to learn about invasive plants, best management practices, and get a glimpse of how these partners take care of the Biosphere - parks included. What better day to learn about these management practices than on Parks Day!
Visit the booths on site to learn more about the area, natural history, invasive plant management, grassland restoration, park facts and more. Participants are welcome to hike & explore Miquelon Lake Provincial Park and other Parks Day attractions throughout the event.
Lend a hand in conservation by participating in the volunteer activity during this event. After a short introduction and demonstration, volunteers can remove common tansy by hand pulling or removing creeping thistle with hedge trimmers. The meeting spot for this activity can be found at the parking area for Miquelon Lake Provincial Park Day Use past the farmer’s market. Look for the tents from our conservation partners!
Tools and gloves are provided. Please bring long sleeves and pants, closed toed shoes, water, work gloves (if you have your own), and be prepared for the weather. Sign up for this one-hour experience at 1 pm.
This event is in coordination with Parks Day activities at Miquelon Lake Provincial Park.
