Bunchberry Meadows is one of our most familiar properties. With 640 acres, this is a very special place with a diverse system of habitats that is a haven for wildlife of all kinds, including birds and larger animals. It is particularly important habitat for birds, as well as large mammals and a myriad of plant species.
As part of our conservation efforts, there are nest boxes set up for Tree Swallows, Mountain Bluebirds, and House Wrens. When the birds are done using these boxes for the season, it falls upon us humans to give them a head start on spring cleaning to make sure the boxes are fit for use in the following spring. Bunchberry Meadows has just under 100 nest boxes to clean, so we can use all the help we can get!
This is also a chance to enjoy the beautiful fall colours that can be seen at Bunchberry, with plentiful birch, aspen, and larch trees shedding their foliage for the season.
We will meet at the main entrance to Bunchberry Meadows promptly at 10:00 am.
What to bring and wear:
sturdy footwear
layers to keep you comfortable throughout the day
a lunch for yourself
a mask to protect from any dust irritation
We will provide light snacks and drinks at the start and end of the event.
