Beat the Black Knot at Glory Hills

Just west of Edmonton, Glory Hills - maskihkîy meskanaw is a refuge for wildlife. A lake, forest, and meadows support deer, moose, and many bird species. Stewardship of this land includes keeping the forest healthy by managing and preventing disease spread. Black knot fungus can threaten trees of the Prunus family, including native chokecherries and pin cherries. The fungus infects within and on the outside of branches, eventually killing the tree. At this event we will remove as much fungus as we can find to help these trees thrive.

We will meet at the land at 9:30 AM, and leave the site by 2:00 PM at the latest. Additional information about the location and event details will be sent to signed-up volunteers within the week of the event.
