CANCELLED - Beat the Burdock at Glory Hills (maskihkîy meskanaw)

This event is cancelled due to extreme temperatures.

Glory Hills Conservation Land is a haven for wildlife just west of the City of Edmonton. A lake, forest, and meadows support deer, moose, and birds of all kinds. However, there is a small patch of burdock that is at risk of becoming a larger problem if it isn’t taken care of. We had the benefit of having a herd of goats help us with the other weeds on the property this year, however, removing the burdock is up to the humans. This is because the burrs can cause problems for the goats’ digestion, and also because the burrs can hitch a ride on their coats and spread the plants that way. We don’t want this to happen, and so we are calling on volunteers to lend a hand!

We will meet at Glory Hills Conservation Lands promptly at 9:30 AM, and leave the site by 1:00 PM at the latest. Wear appropriate footwear, long pants, and bring a lunch, water, and a camera or binoculars if you'd like. If you have your own gloves to bring we recommend that you do so, but otherwise tools and gloves will be provided. Additional information will be sent to you several days in advance of the event.

Other notes:
