We are thrilled to welcome our new Conservation Land Stewards and Citizen Scientists! Our dedicated Conservation Land Stewards have just completed their field training and will be helping us monitor and steward some of our conservation lands over the next 2 years, and our Citizen Science volunteers will be monitoring our conservation lands for bats and loons this season. You can read more about the programs and what these volunteers will be up to in our latest blog, and feel free to say hello if you see them out on the land!

Lady Flower Gardens is hosting their 2021 BioBlitz and you're invited! The event will take place on June 19th, 20th, and 26th at the New Jubilee Conservation Land, an EALT conservation easement conserving one of the last tracts of old growth forest within city limits. Participants will be paired into groups of two with one surveyor who is experienced in native plant ID and one recorder to document the plants. Participants are encouraged to attend the accompanying Plant Identification webinar on May 25th. For more information on the BioBlitz and webinar click here.

Knock Knock, Housekeeping!

ECF Bee Hotel_EALT_2016-06-17 (2).jpg

With spring in full swing it is time to think about bee hotel maintenance. Maintaining your bee hotel is a critical step in ensuring the health of hotel occupants by preventing the spread of pests and diseases.

If you haven't already, now is a good time to clean out your bee hotels. Some species will already be laying eggs, so it is a good idea to monitor your hotel and check if any bees are entering and leaving the tunnels. Check out our Bee Hotel Maintenance Guide for instructions on how to properly clean your bee hotel. You can also find Bee Hotel Maintenance Kits in our shop.

Farewell Maryse

We also bid farewell to our incredible Business Administrator, Maryse. Maryse has been a highly valued member of our team for the past year and a half and has been instrumental in setting EALT up for success when it comes to finance and administration. We will miss her and her passion for animals and the outdoors, but wish her all the best as she moves on to her next role.

Thank you for all of your support and hard work Maryse!
