Restoring an Ecological Connection

EALT is thrilled to have secured this parcel of land along the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, upstream from the Province of Alberta’s Big Island Provincial Park. This parcel is in an Environmentally Significant Area, and over the next few years, we will be working to restore the property to native vegetation to improve watershed health and habitat connectivity for the wildlife that use the river valley as a movement corridor.

We plan to work with the Agroforestry and Woodlot Extension Society to restore plant trees. Once restoration is complete, we plan to designate a trail system and parking area for public access. In the future there may volunteer opportunities here, including stewardship events, Citizen Science, and Conservation Land Stewards

Restoration takes time, and we thank you for your patience.
