Since EALT began its stewardship of Pipestone Creek in 2011, it has become a favourite for staff, visitors, and volunteers alike. Its spectacular views and ample birding opportunities make it an excellent location for an outing. Making these opportunities accessible are 5.5 km of trails, the 3rd longest trail system for any of EALT’s conservation lands.
Now, years after its establishment, the trails are in need of some cleaning up. The site is visited regularly by a mower to keep the trails in good shape, but the mower can’t nip the branches off of overhanging shrubs, trees, and forbs - that’s where you come in!
We will focus on pruning branches and overhanging foliage from the sides of the trails on the land using hand tools such as hand pruners, branch loppers, hedge trimmers, and saws. We will meet at the land at 10:00 am, and leave by 3:00 pm.
Other notes:
This land does not have a parking lot and is roadside parking only. Sometimes large trucks use the road, so it is recommended to pull fully into the ditch where it is shallow enough to do so.
