CANCELLED: Knock Back the Black Knot at Glory Hills

UPDATE: Due to poor weather conditions, this event has been cancelled. We will be hosting an event on December 7th for the same land and activity if you are able to join us then.

Just west of Edmonton, Glory Hills - maskihkîy meskanaw is a refuge for wildlife. A lake, forest, and meadows support deer, moose, and many bird species. Stewardship of this land includes keeping the forest healthy by managing and preventing disease spread. Black knot fungus can threaten trees of the Prunus family, including native chokecherries and pin cherries. The fungus infects within and on the outside of branches, eventually killing the tree. At this event we will remove as much fungus as we can find to help these trees thrive.

We will meet at the land at 10:00 AM, and leave the site by 2:30 PM at the latest. Additional information about the location and event details will be sent to signed-up volunteers within the week of the event.

Other notes:

  • If you need to cancel, please do so through SignUp.com or inform us as soon as possible. Please arrive on time.
