On August 5th 2024 Lady Flower Gardens (LFG) will be supporting a fundraiser for the Greater Edmonton Alliance (GEA).
Lady Flower Gardens is located on the EALT New Jubilee Conservation Easement which protects agricultural lands and a 70 acre old growth forest nestled within the oxbow of the North Saskatchewan River and within Edmonton’s city limits. The Greater Edmonton Alliance supported an action to help conserve prime agricultural land. This action influenced public conceptions about land preservation, which ultimately helped to generate the funds that we needed to secure the New Jubilee Conservation Easement.
As part of this special event at the land, we are offering guided tours throughout the old growth forest. We are recruiting 12 volunteer guides to lead two 30-minute tours of the New Jubilee Forest. This opportunity is for those who love to share and help others connect to nature.
Volunteer requirements:
have a background in some area of forest knowledge
attend an orientation visit on Wednesday, June 19th anytime between 4:00 - 8:00 pm
Tour logistics and details:
30 minutes, led twice
20 person capacity, may include children
3 stops/talking points – volunteers can determine their theme
The tours are meant as an introduction to the land. More in-depth tours will be offered later in the season with nature guides from the Institute for Contemplative Ecology (Nathan Binnema and Josh Key).
the volunteer can visit for an additional practice run before the date if needed
Please e-mail ladyflowergardens@outlook.com if you would like to volunteer, or if you have further questions.
Thank you,
