Build Your Own Bee Hotel Workshop

We're hosting a Build Your Own Bee Hotel Workshop at the John Janzen Nature Centre. To register, click here and use course code 609411, or call 311.

Invite some backyard buddies to visit by building your own bee hotel. Much of the food we eat is due to pollinators- Alberta alone is home to over 300 species of bees, many of which are solitary, non-aggressive, and sadly on the decline. Bee hotels provide important places for tunnel nesting bees to lay their eggs. During this course, we'll each build our own bee hotel with help from the Edmonton and Area Land Trust, learn about the role of pollinators as well as the challenges they face. Once we finish our hotels, we'll head outside for some tips on planting for pollinators and hotel placement. Participants must bring their own drill, spare battery, and set of drill bits.
